Nikos is dressed in Levi’s jeans, a soft sweater and a black jacket to complete the look.

Why did you decide to major in business? You can do a lot with a business degree; it’s a pretty open field. It’s good for someone like me who doesn’t know exactly what I want to do. It gives me a lot of options.

What are the biggest influences on your style? I definitely look to past decades. Most of [my style inspiration] comes from the mid-twentieth century. I have a rule. Whenever I am getting any sort of clothing item, I think to myself, “Could I be transported back in time to any decade in the twentieth century and not look that out of place?” So, a classic look and something that won’t go out of style. James Dean is also a big style influence.

What are your favorite places to shop for clothes? Crew and vintage stores. There’s this tiny little store by my house that receives donations from older people. The clothes are sold for really cheap prices, too.

Nikos bought his Tiger brand sweater on a trip to Sweden. His jacket is from Banana Republic.

Nikos’ shoes are from Nordstrom.

What is your favorite part of your current outfit? Probably the sweater and the watch because they’re both Swedish. I really like that. They represent Scandinavian minimalism and a modern yet timeless look.

How has your style evolved over the years? When I was in middle school and the beginning of high school, I didn’t really wear what I wanted to wear. I just wore what was safe to wear. And then there were all of these things that I would look at and people I would see who had a style that I liked. I thought, “Oh, I would love to dress like that and have clothes like that.” But I would never wear them because I didn’t want to be noticed that much. I eventually got over it and thought “Whatever. If I like it, then I like it.” So I just added pieces of it over time. I’d wear certain shoes that I’d never wear before, or I would wear a certain jacket that I never would have worn. [It was] doing things like that to sort of become who you are, but just over time.
