1“I wish I could say my outfits are eclectically pieced together from cool, rare-find stores; however, my pants are from Target, the shirt is from Maurices and the cardigan was from a shopping trip with my grandma to Macy’s four years ago. She always loved Macy’s.”

How does fashion come into play in your life? I dress, probably like most people, based on my mood or how I guess I want my day to look. There tends to be a correlative scaling of days of the week I look forward to and the preference to an outfit that I put on. Today is Wednesday, but also my longest school day of six classes, so I wanted something I’d feel comfortable sitting in all day, but that would also be kind of fun to represent the most wearing part of the week being completed.

How has your style changed since you started college? Since college, my style has changed a bit in the sense that it doesn’t necessarily have to be everyone else’s style. It’s not like I’m really unique or very trendy, but I’m much more likely to branch out and try new things, to test and discover maybe another genre in which I like myself. This has been more broadly a change in mindset for me, as the experience goes for a lot of emerging adults.

If there was one song to describe your aesthetic, what song would it be? It would be so much easier if I could have a playlist! Of course, this question will probably be answered more wishfully with what I would like my aesthetic and lifestyle to live up to, which is “Equestrian” by U.S. Royalty. I first heard it in this awesome video done by a video production team promoting tourism in Rwanda and instantly felt connected to it. The song exudes feelings of adventure and happiness with some go with the flow sort of vibes. I can chill out while it plays on my drive home with a wet jacket in the passenger seat and rain pouring on the road just as easily as I can listen to it while getting pumped for a road trip on a really sunny day. It’s versatile for varied moods and is boldly fun without being too over the top.

Now that it’s spring term, are there any fashion trends you’re excited to bring back into your wardrobe? I haven’t put a lot of thought into trends for the spring, but I love loose polyester-style tank tops and spaghetti straps as well as flowy shift dresses. Of course, paired with my blue Chacos.

Do you have a favorite color of clothing that you love to wear? My favorite palette has been earth tones for years, which I think I share with my mom, who loves anything in tans, beiges or olive greens with a little bit of gold. Lately, I’ve ventured out into other colors such as deep purples or maroons and yellows, but I generally will always gravitate towards earth tones and blues because they seem to best complement my skin tone and eyes.

Who or what inspires your fashion? I would say I’m influenced by some friends, but also the type of music I’m listening to at the time or characters I’m reading about or have watched in a book or movie – but GAP. GAP is #1 for casual style, and I’m bitter that the Eugene store closed.

If you could trade wardrobes with anyone in the world, who would you trade with? Lauren Conrad is the more chic celebrity version of me, and she is always dressed prime as a dime, so I wouldn’t be too upset if I had to take her wardrobe. She is also, and always will be, my hair inspiration.

How would you define the word “fashionable?” What’s fashionable can be so diverse and is very population- and region-based. It feels a little vain for me to try defining what fashionable is, but I will say the best kind of dressing for me is any individual who wears something that makes them comfortable in their own skin and who you can tell had some fun putting together their outfit. But most importantly, they finish it off with a warm smile because that can make anyone look amazing.
